It was opened in the year 2003 and was financed together with PNC Park and Heinz Field. The facility has a 1,500,000 square feet area, and it even won a Supreme Award in 2004 as excellent for structural engineering. The old building was just 131,000 square feet and did not have a ballroom, so it was demolished to make room for the construction on the same site. The facility is home to a wide range of activities.
